My approach

Transparency in the numbers is, for me, the basis of every decision. Over more than twenty years I've built controlling and KPI reporting from the ground up in several Mittelstand companies, most recently as managing director with full P&L responsibility. I'm equally at home in the financials and on the shop floor. A metric only interests me once it's clear which decision it supports.

How I apply it

As managing director of Protec I held P&L responsibility and cut costs by around 40% during the turnaround; as head of purchasing and logistics I kept stock and working capital under control. I build the reporting that owners and banks actually read — not what's technically possible. Decisions are made on contribution margin, not revenue. I use AI where it speeds the reporting up. But I know when a number holds and when it doesn't.
